A healthy 17 tracks and a well-balanced set list, which serves to demonstrate how tight they are live and how important grass roots gigging has been to them. Yes, there is a reason why they're still going, and this is it.

The sound itself focuses on that of the band rather than the scream of the audience (assuming that the microphones are able to pick them up of course). Where the crowd does feel enthusiastic enough to join in (such as on, inevitably, "Chasing Rainbows"), it's blended in with a fine degree of subtly that enhances the atmospherics of the song without getting in the way of them. "Devil in Your Shoes" is blasted out with a telling degree of weariness, which suits the song far better than its studio counterpart--a trick they repeat with a stripped-down version of "Going for Gold". "Disco Down"--the groove-filled, flared-trousered dancefloor filler--is both the finest song they've ever written and a timely reminder that indie music is something that you should be dancing too (something not seen since the demise of the Stone Roses). The 20 minutes of bonus DVD tour material is the perfect compliment to an accomplished set. --Ben Johncock.
