Following one of the first retaliatory air raids on Tokyo after Pearl Harbor, injured American pilot Jack Taylor (Emile Hirsch) was forced to bail out over the Zhejiang coast. and was given shelter by the beautiful, widowed weaver Ying (Yifei Liu).
