On her debut album, Da Abtomatic Meisterzinger Mambo Chic, released in 2000, Charlie Megira channels the optimism of post-war America, narcoleptic surfing and Twin Peaks soundtrack into a lo-fi masterpiece of her own. Sung in both Hebrew and English, the album moves forward at a deliberate, carefree pace of modern world traffic, wrapped in the vintage cover of a Tascam 4-track tape recorder. On "Tomorrow's Gone", he manages the feat of going back so far in time that it is finally in the future and waits for everyone to join him.
