Jesse Luttrell's recording session was the last ever held at the historic Nola Recording Studios, just before it closed in January, 2014 after a 75-year illustrious run. Jesse Luttrell is a modern-day vaudevillian who has appeared nationally in musicals, cabaret, and concert engagements. His critically acclaimed vaudeville-burlesque revue BAWDY has been running monthly at the Triad in New York since 2009. He appears regularly with the Fred Barton Orchestra in 'American Showstoppers' at the Michael Schimmel Center, and in the Hudson Riverfront Performing Arts Center show music concerts each summer. Jesse's regional and touring musical theatre roles include the Emcee in CABARET, the Pharaoh in JOSEPH AND THE TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, Frank-n-Furter in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, and both Munkustrap and Rum Tum Tugger in CATS. Luttrell began his career training and dancing with Pittsburg Ballet Theatre and The Rock School/Pennsylvania Ballet. The songs include 'Hey There, Good Times,' Cy Coleman's first-rate barnburner which brought down the house nightly in I LOVE MY WIFE (1977) and has rarely been performed or recorded since. It was introduced on Broadway by John Miller - who coordinated the band for this new recording. Jesse restores the rarely-performed verse to 'Make Someone Happy' from Jule Styne's DO RE MI (1960) in a soaring swing arrangement. Luttrell & Barton put a new super-fast swing spin on 'I'm Gonna Live Till I Die,' previously recorded by artists as varied as Frank Sinatra and Queen Latifah. 'Where's That Rainbow,' Rodgers & Hart's song from PEGGY-ANN (1926) includes the verse and ranges from late-night club band to big-band swing. Jerry Herman's showstopper 'Two A Day' from PARADE is given it's first complete recording since the original off-Broadway recording in 1960, and the first complete orchestral recording ever. The CD ends with Jesse's signature closing number, Newley-Bricusse's 'What Kind Of Fool Am I,' (STOP THE WORLD, I WANT TO GET OFF, 1962) featuring sax and trumpet solos by Broadway pit stars Tom Murray and Tony Kadleck. Fred Barton is one of today's leading symphonic Pops arrangers, and his work is regularly heard at Carnegie Hall and major concert halls around the US and Canada. He co-originated FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, and has conducted a number of shows on Broadway, national tour, and in regional theatre; he co-composed and/or arranged the TV shows THE MAGIC SCHOOLBUS, WONDER PETS!, OLIVIA, and HBO'S CATHOUSE: THE MUSICAL.
