The EP-LP was originally released in early1986, after the band had split inNovember 1985, and collected forconvenience the first four Subhumans EPsonto one disc. This includes the fierysix-track debut, Demolition War, that wasfirst unleashed at the end of 1981, thepowerful and provocative Reason ForExistence and the perennial ReligiousWars, both from 1982, and the intenselyangry Evolution, from May 1983, whosetitle track rages so effectively against thesenseless tragedy that is vivisection. Whilstnever intended to be released as afull-length album when first recorded, most of the eighteen tracks on offer arestill staples in the bands set to this day,and hang together very cohesively as anessential body of work.
