King Priam

The narrative template for this opera by Michael Tippett comes from Ilias, the homeric epic of the Trojan War. The story is only partially retuned, the plot focuses entirely on the emotional stages of their characters - their sweetnesses, faithful ulcers and revenge desires that end up the death of King Priamos in his burning city. The inevitable and sensuality of the war are themed. Rodney Macann gives a captivating Priamos, Sarah Walker touches in her presentation Andromaches, wife Hectors. Howard Haskin plays the rebellious son of King Priamos who burns out with Helena, the daughter of the Greek king, thus triggering the Trojan War. The innovative production of Nicholas Hytner forms an unity with the stylistic stage design of David Fielding, which creates a timeless atmosphere of the war action. With minimalist costumes, colours and the use of white light, the music Tippetts is even more expression with its shrill and hard tones. The Kent Opera Orchestra is under the guidance of Sir Roger Norrington. Listen to a recording as it sounded live in the concert hall without having to calculate frequencies, this would probably delight any music lover. This is exactly what the high resolution audio titles offer with which Arthaus music brings analogue recordings in their original sound quality almost directly to your home. For the first time, in addition to HD video recordings, high resolution sounds in perfect quality, short high resolution audio are used on Blu-ray. In the process, the first-class 1 C studio master bands from the broadcasting and television archives are not calculated down to 48 kHz as before, but 1:1 and scanned at a resolution of 24 bit in 192 kHz. Thus, there is an almost exact reproduction of the analogue sound, which is cleaner, more detailed and often more spatial, with more dynamics and better positioning of the instruments.
