1000 masterpieces from the great museums of the world is one of the most successful TV series about art. The original fascinates in new image and colour brilliance with special journeys through the art history. In five short reviews, well-known authors open a deep access to masterpieces of painting - understandably explained and entertaining presented. In 1874, an artist group with the mock-name 'Impressionists' in a first exhibition the Paris public. Too revolutionary was the spirit of young open-air painters who explained the impression of the moment in the play of colours of light to the content of their art. For example, Cassattt, Caillebotte, Liebermann, Kroyer and Edelfelt stand for a world-wide revolt, which introduce modernity with the Bruck of conventional viewing habits.
