PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Comprising the thematically-linked trio of albums The Impossible Bird, Dig My Mood and The Convincer, The Brentford Trilogy is a superb and soulful collection from Britain’s greatest living songwriter. These CDs will not be available separately. Presented in a slipcase, the package comprises the 3 CDs in individual digipaks using original artwork plus a 12 page booklet with rare photos and essay.
The Brentford Trilogy shares its title with a clutch of novels by Robert Rankin, who is of the same vintage as Nick Lowe and uses the south-west London neighbourhood as the launch-pad for all manner of SF fantasy high jinks. Comprising the trio of albums which established Lowe as Britain’s finest songsmith on release between 1994 and 2001, this Brentford Trilogy is similarly rooted in the locale where Lowe has resided for a couple of decades.
REVIEW
Lowe kicked off his renaissance with the sudden notion that making youthful sounding music felt like a drag. The result, The Impossible Bird, set the template - a timeless Jim Reeves/Otis Redding cocktail with a West London chaser.Lowe's production skills eventually reached Zenlevels of simplicity on The Convincer - where his battleworn voice is right there in the room with you, kept in check by Geraint Watkins' lush Hammond swirl.
