Die 'Newsboys' sind immer wieder für eine Überraschung gut: Zuerst stieß Paul Colman als neuer Gitarrist zur Band hinzu. Seit Januar 2009 widmet dieser sich allerdings wieder ausschließlich seiner Solokarriere. Im März 2009 gab die Band bekannt, dass Frontmann Peter Furler ab sofort nur noch im Hintergrund agiert. Stattdessen steht Michael Tait, der ehemalige Sänger von 'dc Talk', von nun an hinterm Mikro. 'In The Hands Of God' ist somit die letzte CD mit Peter Furler. Der Qualität ihres neuen Albums haben die Wechsel in der Bandbesetzung keinen Abbruch getan: Auf 'In The Hands Of God' liefern die Jungs zehn klasse Songs ab und das in dem für die Band so typischen Mix aus Pop, Rock und Dance und HipHop.
