Der Oboist und Komponist Thomas Vincent (1723-1798) war der Lieblingsschüler von Giuseppe Sammartini und einer der führenden Oboenvirtuosen im London seiner Zeit. Seine 1748 als Op.1 veröffentlichten Sonaten für Oboe und Basso continuo verarbeiten sowohl französische als auch italienische Stilelemente und zeichnen sich durch eine besonders effektvolle und idiomatische Schreibweise für das Instrument aus. Die Weltersteinspielung mit dem Barockoboisten Giuseppe Falciglia und dem Ensemble Intarsio Armonico ist eine willkommene Bereicherung des spätbarocken Oboenrepertoires.
