Introduction to Fingerpicking Guitar

This lesson is intended for players that have already learned most of their open position chords but have not yet tried plucking strings using multiple fingers. I will guide you through exercises that will introduce the most fundamental rhythms and fretboard moves of old time picking. Then, we’ll work our way through a series of tunes of increasing difficulty, taken from the repertoire of the greatest old-time pickers: Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotten, Sam Chatmon, Etta Baker and Sam McGee.
