Thalia Zedek has been a force on the indie music landscape for over twenty years, dating back to her days in Live Skull and Uzi. Along with Chris Brokaw, she fronted the band Come, who released four records on Matador. This is Thalia's second album for Thrill Jockey; a follow-up to 2004's "Trust Not Those in Whom Without Some Touch of Madness", and the first to feature her new full band. Much like the work of Nick Cave, Thalia's vocals and song arrangements have a pervasive bittersweet tone. She's chosen unusual instrumentation such as viola to compliment her guitar work, and like a great full-bodied burgundy, her songs are rich in texture and reveal with each listen their delicately crafted layers.
