ABOUT THE ARTIST
Arnold Jarvis road to success began at the age of sixteen when he sang with the Baltimore Gospel Choir. His rich, gospel-inflected baritone and unique phrasing made him one of the choirs most favored soloists.
In 1984, Arnold moved to New York City in pursuit of a career in Film and Television. While an undergraduate at New York University, he began auditioning and forging connections within the music industry. The consequent first alliance was between Arnold and the infamous Fonda Rae with whom he wrote lyrics and sang background vocals, and would later record Youre The Best, a song written by Lem Springsteen (Mood II Swing) and produced by Kerri Chandler. In 1987, while auditioning for an all male group at Fourth Floor Records, Arnold was offered a solo recording contract. Later that year he released his debut single Take Some Time Out, produced by Tommy Musto and Yvonne Turner. Ensuing the songs huge underground and worldwide success, Arnold performed at the legendary Paradise Garage and embarked on a two month European tour.
The exposure won Arnold the opportunity to be the featured vocalist for Satoshi Tomiies single And I Loved You (FFRR, Polygram UK), written by Robert Owens and produced by the renowned Grammy winners Frankie Knuckles and David Morales. The single went on to climb the dance charts and brought Arnold to the attention of Atlantic Records. For Atlantic he, along with the pop group The Bingo Boys and rap artist Princesa, recorded the single Borrowed Love, an R&B song which to everyones delight shot up the pop charts. The songs triumph ushered an extensive tour of the United States and Europe, as well as public acclaim for Arnold.
Arnold Jarvis has also won praise for recording the monumental underground dance hits Inspiration on Freetown Records, Swing 52s Color of My Skin and The Joy You Bring on Cutting Records. Moreover, this consummate entertainer has toured and performed alongside artists such as Queen Latifah, Adeva, Ultra Nate, Ce Ce Penitson, Loletta Holloway, Jocelyn Brown, Jody Watley and many others.
In the spring of 2000, the smash hit Learn To Give, produced and mixed by Eric Kupper was released on Hysteria Records. Arnold then delivered the staggering Life Goes On on MAW Records, the product of a mind-blowing collaboration with DJ/Producer Little Louie Vega and vocalist Lisa Fischer, followed by Special Kind of Love on King Street Records produced by Benji Candelario and remixed by Jazz and Groove.
The featured album, Arnold Jarvis The Collection, includes all his classic hits from past to present with 3 new tracks. The beautiful Rising Into Joy, a luminous song with an infectious bass line, beautiful backgrounds and an exquisite flute solo produced and mixed by Alix Alvarez. " What Goes Around", a sophisticated club classic produced by Vincent Kwok and Miguel Migs and the astonishing "Spread Love", a jam session of magnificent percussion, blazing horns and illustrious strings produced and mixed by Benji Candelario.
Arnold Jarvis is a singer, songwriter and performer. His voice has fueled innumerable House music anthems, and his talents have and will continue to be distinct, remarkable and groundbreaking.
