Met de Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers en Hank Williams behoort de muziek van Bill Monroe tot de pijlers van iedere country/bluegrass/folk cd-collectie. JSP Records pakt het weer goed aan en verzamelt al de Victor/Bluebird opnames (met zijn broer Charlie onder de naam 'The Monroe Brothers') en de opnames voor Okeh met o.a. Lester Flatt en Earl Scruggs in dit 4-cd boxje (natuurlijk ontbreekt 'Blue Moon Of Kentucky' niet). De geluidskwaliteit is prima, de informatie voldoende en de prijs aangenaam, m.a.w. absoluut de beste keuze voor dit 'klassieke' materiaal.
