Papa Charlie Jackson is een invloedrijke maar tegelijkertijd ietwat mysterieuze figuur binnen de countryblues. We weten dat hij New Orleans is geboren, maar verder is zijn leven in nevelen gehuld. Hij was de eerste bluesman die opnames ging maken, voor Paramount in 1924. Jarenlang was hij de succesvolste artiest bij dit label. Hij bespeelde een banjo-gitaar en werd bekend met tamelijk suggestieve songs. Tot zijn bekendste nummers behoren Spoonful, Salty Dog, Shake That Thing en andere songs die later bluesstandards werden. De boxset is aangevuld met enkele opnames van Bo Weavil Jackson.
