Samengesteld door blueskenner Neil Slaven vanuit zijn eigen beroemde archief, biedt deze 4-cd-set veel bijzonders voor de liefhebber. Daar waar de eerste JSP-set (JSPCD 7764) van deze belangrijke bluesgitarist opnames uit zijn hele carriÞre bevatte, zijn de eerste twee cds van deze set geheel gewijd aan de jaren 34 en 35. De opnames zijn gemaakt door John Lomax en zijn zoon Alan, die het verhaal van Leadbelly vertellen vanaf zijn verblijf in de gevangenis tot het moment dat hij de lieveling werd van de intelligentsia in Washington D.C. Maar liefst 24 tracks zijn niet eerder op cd verschenen!
