Bo Carter & the Mississippi Skeiks

Bo Carter, geboren als Armenter Bo Chatmon in de Mississippi-delta, vormde samen met zijn broers Lonnie en Sam de Mississippi Sheiks, een van de populairste stringbands eind jaren 20 en begin jaren 30 die country en blues vermengden. Bo Carter zelf schreef seksueel getinte bluesnummers, die door hun humoristische teksten zeer populair waren. Hij had tevens een bijzondere stijl van gitaarpicking en bereikte zijn artistieke hoogtepunt in de jaren 30. Voor het eerst zijn de opnames van Carter, zowel solo als met Sheiks, samengebracht in een mooie box, geannoteerd door Neil Slaven. Daarmee heeft JSP weer een uitstekende uitgave toegevoegd aan de toch al indrukwekkende pre-war bluescollectie!
