Meaning in the Blues

In 1960 verscheen het boek Blues fell this morning door Paul Oliver, inmiddels gezien als ht klassieke boek over blues. Aangezien dat nu alweer 50 jaar geleden is, wilde JSP een eerbetoon aan Oliver maken in de vorm van deze mooie 4-cdset. De samenstelling was in de capabele handen van de Engelse blueskenner Max Haymes, samen met Oliver zelf. Natuurlijk was er ruimte voor slechts een fractie van wat er in het boek behandeld werd, maar alleen dat is al een mooi beeld van het ontstaan van de blues in de jaren 20 en 30. Plus een 80 paginas dik boek met veel achtergrondinfo!
