King of the Honkin' Sax

Deze opnames stammen uit de periode 1948-1954. Tenorsaxofonist Big Jay McNeely was toen een bijzondere verschijning op het podium met zijn wilde show en zijn rauwe tonen. Hij zette letterlijk en figuurlijk de toon voor talloze r&b-muzikanten na hem. Op deze dubbelaar de vroege opnames van McNeely voor het eerst op deze wijze bij elkaar, inclusief enkele van zijn grootste hits als Wild Wig, Deacons Hop en 3D. De hoesteksten zijn van blueskenner Neil Slaven.
