Immer wieder interessant zu beobachten: wie politische Ereignisse auch musikalische Entwicklungen auslösen. Kalifornien hatte vor dem zweiten Weltkrieg weder eine florierende Musikindustrie aufzuweisen oder gar eine Tradition des Blues. Der Zweite Weltkrieg führte zu einer massiven Ansiedlung von Rüstungsindustrie an der Westküste. Und dort wurden Arbeitsplätze angeboten, die wiederum in Texas oder Oklahoma rar waren. Dem Ruf folgten nicht nur Arbeiter sondern auch Musiker aus diesen Regionen - und plötzlich war der Blues in Kalifornien präsent. Die 3-CD-Box vereint Aufnahmen aus den Jahren 1947 bis 1953 unter dem Namen 'Hollywood Blues'.
