In 1952 besloten A. P. en Sarah Carter met hun kinderen Janette en Joe op verzoek van labelbaas Clifford Spurlock (ACME Records) tot een comeback. De glorie van de originele Carter Family (1926 -1943), misschien wel de invloedrijkste groep uit de countryhistorie, was nog steeds levend.
