Limitato vinile colorato LP pressatura. Non è raro che i musicisti crescano e si evolvano tra le uscite - ma anche secondo questi standard, The Districts' Popular Manipulations è sorprendente. Il terzo full-length della band nata dalla Pennsylvania rappresenta un salto esponenziale nel suono e nella coesione, un'ustione impressionante e appassionata con un ampio spettro che minaccia di inghiottire tutto il resto che la circonda. Il suono decisamente intenso di Popular Manipulations - chitarre in carica, tamburi fragorosi e la voce bruciante di Grote - è stato generato da alcune influenze citate, dal turbinio aggressivo di shoegaze all'impeccabile suono drone-rock dei Velvet Underground. C'è anche un sapore decisamente canadese in questo marchio di indie rock, troppo; L'anthemic, lussureggiante lavoro imperscrutabile di Spencer Krug in Wolf Parade e il suo defunto progetto collaterale Sunset Rubdown viene in mente, così come i barnburners di Toronto degli anni 2000, la gemma del 2006 trascurata dai Diableros You Can't Break the Strings in Our Olympic ic Cuori.
