Der Titel ist programmatisch. 1976 im New Yorker Hunter College aufgenommen, steht der große Blues-Sänger und Gitarrist John Lee Hooker alleine auf der Bühne. Nur auf sich selbst konzentriert, spielt er den Blues in seiner reinsten Form. Dieses Album wird nun erstmals auf Vinyl veröffentlicht. Wie ein Jazz-Musiker, liebt John Lee Hooker es zu improvisieren. So sind die hier vorliegenden Versionen einiger seiner größten Hits wie "Boogie Chillen'", "Boom Boom" und "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" einmalig - im doppelten Sinne dieses Begriffes. Der im Jahr 2001 verstorbene John Lee Hooker gilt als Legende seines Fachs. Er spielte in dem Film "Blues Brothers" mit und ist unter anderem mit einem Stern auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame, der Aufnahme in die Blues Hall of Fame und die Aufnahme in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame geehrt worden.
