Joel Paterson is al meer dan twintig jaar een steunpilaar van de Chicago roots-scene, met zijn unieke mix van jazz, blues, rockabilly, country en western swing. Het volledig akoestische album `Wheelhouse Rag' klinkt alsof het in de jaren `20 van de vorige eeuw is opgenomen, ge´nspireerd door legendes Blind Blake, Robert Johnson, Reverend Gary Davis en Big Bill Broonzy. Paterson voegt daar nog de nodige eigen wendingen aan toe.
