From the dust-choked depths of the Los Angeles basin emerges Cattlemass, a doom metal trio with a vision as stark and unrelenting as the concrete sprawl that birthed it. Fronted by vocalist/guitarist Chris Price, with Wes Styles on bass and Kyle Abbott on drums, Cattlemass delivers hellish riffs, dystopian themes, and analog grit in a futuristic take on classic doom.

Rooted in the raw spirit of early '70s heavy music, Cattlemass leans fully into DIY ethics -- from screen-printed merch and lo-fi pavement promotion to self-produced music videos that echo their sonic brutality. Their sound is thick with distortion and alienation, paired with lucite instruments and visceral lyrical imagery. This year alone, Cattlemass has brought their oppressive live set to legendary stages, supporting Pentagram and Eyehategod, and are slated to open for Anciients this Fall. Their debut single Infecticide, featured on Weedian's Trip to California: Doom Edition, was followed by Replicant, a dystopian crusher released with artwork by visual artist Tyler Pennington. Now, Cattlemass prepares to unveil their first full-length record, Alpha 1128, out this Fall via Seeing Red Records. An otherworldly lament--heavy, haunted, and hewn from the ruins of tomorrow.
Written by Chris Price, Alpha 1128 is a concept album chronicling the rise and fall of humanity through the lens of an inter-dimensional observer. Each track is a self-contained vision of destruction and mythology -- from the tale of a cosmonaut infected by an alien entity, to villagers offering sacrifices to an ancient cannibal wizard. "I've always liked concept albums," says Price. "This one sort of revealed itself that way. All the themes started pointing toward one long descent -- a chronicle of collapse, told from the outside looking in." Alpha 1128 is not just a debut -- it's a statement: analog doom for a digital apocalypse.
