Bach & l'Italie-Volume 5 : Solos pour Cordes

The research of pianist, musicologist and theologian Chiara Bertoglio has unearthed many works related to the reception of Bach's music in Italy. The fifth volume of his Bach&Italy recording project for Da Vinci Classics is the first of two albums devoted to Bach's string solos in Italian transcriptions. This CD includes real gems, such as Sergio Fiorentino's splendid transcript from Bach's first solo violin sonata, as well as interesting discoveries, such as Alfonso Rendano's melodies superimposed on two Preludes of Bach's Cello Suites. The album is complemented by works by other composers, ranging from the early 20th century to the present day, including Alessandro Longo, Giuseppe Piccioli and Eugenio Fels.
