DESCRIPTION

Setting out to plan this contemporary album for unaccompanied clarinet, artist Chen Hu Jie decided to assemble a repertoire mirroring his own personal preferences, featuring composers from China, the Nordic countries, France, and Russia. This collection highlights overlooked Nordic clarinet solos (Rosenbergs Sonata per clarinetto Solo, Kjell Roikjers Monolog og Perpetuum mobile, in world premiere recording, Johan Kvandals Fantasi, and Tauno Marttinens Illusio), academic French clarinet works (Jolivets AscÞses), a renowned composition and a brief piece by Stravinsky (3 Pieces for Clarinet Solo and Pour Pablo Picasso respectivtly), alongside a new work by a young Chinese composer (Deux Faces by Jasmine Moni Guo).
