Conductions, Live At Nuova Consonanza

This album is the result of an improvisation workshop (2022) by Alessandro Sbordoni. Its participants created the XYZ Ensemble, continuing its work well beyond the boundaries of the workshop, through live performances and this album. It features recordings of several improvisations from the workshop, focusing around the theme of conduction. This fascinating phenomenon bridges different musical genres; the concluding concert included a captivating score by Paolo Damiani, and two improvisations based on conduction. With this album, the members of the XYZ Ensemble continue to contribute meaningfully to the evolution of contemporary sound art, with an eye to the increasing importance of the practice of improvisation, which transcends specific genres and musical styles, and embraces contemporary artistic practices in general.
