Piano Sonatas

The three Piano Sonatas by Luis Saglie featured in this Da Vinci Classics album are, in the composers words, "a true autobiographical note about my musical offering", spanning a period of 19 years of artistic evolution. The composer lived in seven different countries and four continents; thus, each sonata claims a particular country and cultural surrounding. The first Sonata was written in Vienna, when the composer was still a student; the second, conceived for the composers sister, saw the light in Santiago, Chile; finally, the third Sonata came into being in Sydney, Australia, where the composer is currently based. This last piece was dedicated to Stefan Stroissnig, who performs all three works in this album.
