This album is an invitation to the (re)discovery of two gifted female composers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, and of their Piano Trios. Dora Pejačević, a Croatian noblewoman, is considered as a pioneer of her country’s classical music, whilst Amanda Maier-Röntgen suffused her music with echoes from her native Sweden. Their Piano Trios are major achievements, firmly rooted within the classical-Romantic tradition, but also rich in innovative ideas, original thoughts, brilliant musical solutions and engaging traits.
