Vincenzo Ferroni (1858-1934) was an Italian composer and musician whose life journey exemplified a deep passion for music and an unwavering commitment to his craft. Born in Tramutola, Italy, on February 17, 1858, he developed an early love for music; starting with the study of the horn and rudiments of music, Ferroni's musical talent flourished. His compositions showcased a fusion of French harmonic influence and Italian melodic sensibility. As a token of homage to Ferroni, Ernesto Berio composed a Prelude and Fugue dedicated to him, which is also included in this recording, along with another short piece. Ernesto was Luciano Berio’s father, and, being an organist and composer himself, he provided his son with the first musical education and valuable musical experiences.
