Following the stellar success of their self-titled debut, 1995 saw the Soldier Soldier stars waste no time in pillaging fourteen more standards for another round of lucrative celeb karaoke. Even for those who couldn't claim to be fans though, the return of Robson And Jerome wasn't an altogether bad thing: Grandparents are notoriously hard to buy Christmas presents for, but cold indeed are the elderly heart-cockles that couldn't be warmed by the pair's rendition of "Silent Night". Sixties pop purists may find it harder to forgive when it comes to "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted", "Oh, Pretty Woman", and "Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart"--but as with Robson And Jerome's first self-titled affair, at least someone went to the trouble of orchestrating the whole thing. And Robson Green (the shorter one) even gave some of the proceeds of Take Two to his local Socialist group! Chap! --Peter Paphides
