Johnny Dakota (John W. Newman) resides in Vancouver, Washington. He is a graduate of high school and of the following schools: welding, truck driving, elevator erection and real estate. He is also a graduate of an Ironworkers apprenticeship program. John is a retired journeyman ironworker with 35 years under his belt. He has worked on high rise buildings in Los Angeles, the Astoria Bridge at the mouth of the mighty Columbia, and missile sites in Montana. He has also briefly worked as a Longshoreman and as a truck driver. Now retired, he enjoys staying fit by working out five days a week at a Powerhouse gym and walking everyday. He enjoys creating song lyrics and attending church. He is ordained as a Pastor of Music at a full Gospel church. His songs have won many awards. John comments: 'I've had most of my inspiration from different aspects of my life: work, U.S. Army, love, divorce, living alone, always living on the razor's edge (high steel Ironworker connector 31 years) and finally a born-again Christian and pastor involved with Vietnam Veterans and ex-convicts (prison ministry).
