Der bärtige Liedermacher aus Modena, der sich selbst gerne als Geschich- tenerzähler sieht, gilt in seinem Heimatland unbestritten als Vater der politisch motivierten Songpoesie. Obwohl das Werk von Francesco Guccini hierzulande so gut wie gar nicht bekannt ist, hat der EMI-Importdienst ASD fast alle wichtigen Platten des "Cantautore"-Pioniers als CD im Katalog. Zu den interessantesten Veröffentlichungen zählt "Amerigo" von 1978, auf dem Guccini in ernsthaften Chansons zu geschmackvollsparsamer Begleitung sein Verhältnis zu dem "gelobten Land" Amerika definiert.
