The title may be uninspiring, but The Album II, a bumper roundup of quality pop and indie, proves itself to be anything but. Kick-started by the rifftastic "Bohemian Like You" from the Dandy Warhols, the accent's on chart-busting guitar tunes and cheese-free anthems. In fact, the whole package has something to please the most jaded of palettes, pitching sing-along favourites from Stereophonics and Supergrass with up-and-coming acts like Elbow, Turin Brakes and the marvellous Starsailor. It's not all guitars and earnest Jeff Buckley impressions though. For those people who claim not to like dance music, there are leftfield takes on the genre from the mighty Avalanches, the twisted big beat of Pepe Deluxe, hip hop from D12 and the return of The Chemical Brothers with the tribal clout of "It Began In Africa". Moby aside, this is as irritant free and well compiled as they come. --Paul Tierney
