Pianist Freddie Redd is een van de weinige originele hard-boppers die nog in leven is. Hij is dit jaar 88 geworden! Ondanks dat hij beroemd is geworden als de componist van de iconische off-Broadway-show The Connection heeft hij slechts weinig cds opgenomen. Op deze plaat leidt hij een sextet van veel jongere muzikanten in een mix van oude en nieuwe composities. Met saxofonist Chris Byars, trombonist John Mosca, bassist Jay Anderson, drummer Billy Drummond en Stefano Doglioni op basklarinet.
