Baubles, Bangles and Beads

Tenorsaxofonist Stephen Riley gaf altijd de voorkeur aan kwartetten zonder piano, maar sinds zijn samenwerking met Peter Zak op zijn recente cd Lover (SCCD 31765) maakt deze deel uit van zijn line-up. Hij speelt hier een verbazingwekkende collectie songs, soms jazzstandards en soms afkomstig uit andere genres. Hij veroorlooft zich heerlijke vrijheden, of het nu gaat om Hank Williams I Heard the Lonesome Whistle, Robert Johnsons Hellhound on My Trail of een platgespeeld Cherokee. Met bassist Neal Caine en drummer Jason Marsalis.
