Impressions of Coltrane

De Amerikaanse vibrafonist Khan Jamal (o.a. Sunny Murray) wordt door de jazzrecensenten zeer hoog gewaardeerd. Op dit prachtige eerbetoon aan John Coltrane is op slechts twee stukken een saxofonist te horen (Odean Pope en Byard Lancaster), de andere zes Coltrane-composities worden fantastisch vertolkt door een kwartet bestaande uit vibrafonist Jamal, pianist Farid Barron, bassist Curtis Lundy en drummer Edgar Bateman. Opmerkelijk project!
