Originally from Pennsylvania, Kelley has been based in Nashville since 1983, when she wrote hits for Carl Jackson and Ricky Skaggs/Sharon White. After a couple of singles on MCA she concentrated on songwriting for a decade while raising two daughters, her songs being recorded by the likes of Loretta Lynn, Trisha Yearwood, Rhonda Vincent, the Osborne Brothers and many more. In 1999 she released an album of original material, SIMPLE PATH, on her own label. Music Row Magazine said of it, "She sings with immense hillbilly heart and writes like a champion. Like so much of what we label Americana, this is simply a simple and wonderful country record." THUNDERBIRD is the belated follow-up and features 11 more highly personal songs, each co-written with a pertinent friend or, in the case of "Cold All The Time", country music veteran Bill Anderson. Guests include Rodney Crowell on "If I Had Any Strength At All".
