The Haunted Valley war eine Gesellschaft musikaffiner Menschen, die Jackie Leven 1994 ins Leben rief. Die Mitglieder kamen einmal im Jahr in den Genuss eines limitierten Albums des schottischen Songwriters, meist mit Live-Aufnahmen. The Haunted Year Summer ist die dritte Folge einer Serie von Wiederveröffentlichungen dieser Alben. Jeweils zwei erscheinen als Doppel-CD pro Jahreszeit. Für den Sommer wurden die Platten Barefoot Days und Deep In The Heart Of Nowhere ausgewählt. Beide Alben sind eine hintergründige Mischung aus Studiosongs, gelebten Geschichten und außergewöhnlichen Live-Aufnahmen, etwa wenn Jackie Leven im Club Greys in Brighton von David Thomas zu einer ungeprobten halbstündigen Version von You ve Lost That Loving Feeling begleitet wird. Ansonsten gibt s unheimlich(e) schöne Balladen wie Barefoot Days , Deep In The Heart Of Nowhere und Rain Of Kathleen .
