A versatile musician, Karen is a singer/songwriter, pianist, violinist, producer, as well as a composer of music in the film/TV genre. She has composed orchestral scores, written and co-produced all songs on her albums, has an accomplished background in classical music on both piano and violin, and her songwriting ability covers a variety of genres from Pop/R&B to Pop/Country. Karen was adopted by loving parents who provided the opportunity of music education just a few years into her life, beginning musical studies with piano lessons at age 3 and violin at age 6 in Houston, Texas, where she was born and raised. With a foundation in classical music, her training began with music theory and ear training. At age 4, her piano teacher discovered her ability to play by ear and demonstrate perfect pitch. She has been featured in the Houston Chronicle and on local television for her early accomplishments. Upon learning she was adopted at age 10, Karen poured unanswered questions into music; her thoughts turning into hundreds of songs and pieces. She wrote her first piano piece at age 12, began writing songs at 14, and composed her first piece in the film music genre for orchestra and piano titled 'Serenity', which was premiered by four orchestras and a pianist after winning a district composition contest. Although Karen's background features her work on piano and violin, her favorite instrument is and has always been the voice. Faced with the diagnosis of diplophonia in 2007 (a condition that causes two pitches sung simultaneously) caused by a cyst that had formed on her left vocal cord, Karen's ability to sing was indefinite. With faith and determination, her passion ultimately led to her recorded albums to date, some radio play of her original music in California and Texas, radio & television guest appearances, as well as landing a national commercial advertisement for Old Navy, to name a few highlights of her musical journey. Karen continues her training under the Speech-Level Singing Method. Creating this mantra for herself to live by, she is grounded with every step going forward: "Don't ever get content with your talent, whatever it may be. The moment you are satisfied is the moment you stop growing." A versatile musician, Karen is a singer/songwriter, pianist, violinist, producer, as well as a composer of music in the film/TV genre.
