Ian Thomas Alexy was born on November First, the first Day Of The Dead and the Catholic holiday All Saints Day. Ian, who is best known for his work alongside his brother Teague Alexy in Hobo Nephews Of Uncle Frank, takes it alone here writing performing and producing much of the music. Born On The Day Of The Dead begins thematically with it's Spaghetti Western inspired theme song which sets the tone for this multidimensional record. Shortly after writing the song, Ian decided it would be a good idea to record the track on his birthday, on The Day Of The Dead. That event began the project and set the emotional tone for Born On The Day Of The Dead. The record plays like a movie. Each song is a new scene with it's own distinct color and style that simultaneously adds depth and texture to the whole. Ian initially envisioned Day Of The Dead as a 'dark folk record.' However, over the course of recording the project it evolved into a rock n roll album with a healthy dose of Electric guitar, Ians' main instrument which he began at age 13. After recording most of the instruments himself, Ian brought in Eric Pollard aka Actual Wolf to round out the record with his distinct drumming and vocal harmonies.
