Tongues in Trees marks Dan Berggren's 40th year as a songwriter and performer. With it's dozen songs, a soundpoem and a tune, this album is about being in the moment (Occupy This Moment), looking back (The Attic, Black River Canal), looking ahead (Proud of You), looking around (Old Dirt Road) and looking within (Capitalist Without a Soul). It gives voice to the trees (Birch Are Soprano), a fish (Swimming in the River), parents (Road to Bethlehem), a spouse (Kuleana) and a son or daughter (Where Is My Father). It searches for balance (The Balance) and celebrates those who have gone before us (Shepherd of the Wilderness, May You Live). The songs are recorded as performed with Dan on guitar or banjo and Ed Lowman on bass. Dan's roots are firmly in the Adirondacks where he was raised but his music has branched out across many borders. The award-winning musician and educator has entertained audiences throughout New York State, from Kentucky to Texas, Vermont to Michigan, and overseas in Belgium, Bulgaria, Transylvania and Central Africa.
