An exploration of delicate tensions, Mariposa stretches the heart to accept what might be uncomfortable, but also beautiful and strong. An excellent aid to yoga, the building and release of musical tensions remind the body to embrace, then gently expand. Dreamy tenderness, entwined with honest and stark beauty, suffuses the music with a dynamic tension, allowing joyous lightness to break through like sunlight bursting through the clouds. The New Mexico landscape is rife with beautiful yet harsh, challenging realities. Mariposa initiates an inquiry into the interplay between human tenderness and the land's ever present, elemental forces: rock, wind, and fire. The music reflects feelings, shaped by interaction with the environment, leading to the comingling of gentleness and strength that enables us to survive.
