Following his 2022 folktronica album, John Moreland, exhausted from the constant pressures of touring and recording, entered a period of soul-cleansing rest. The Texas-born musician didn't perform for an entire year, avoided smartphones for six months, and generally returned to a state of mental wellbeing. As a result of being mostly at home during this time, Moreland has returned to the gloriously primitive and plaintive folk-rock of his early albums, playing the majority of 'Visitor' himself.
