A homespun tale of the triumph of old-fashioned country people over big city gangsters, 1942's South Of Santa Fé soundtrack features star vocalist Spade Cooley and The Sons Of The Pioneers, starring Roy Rogers with his horse Trigger and Gabby Hayes as Mayor of a small town in decline. As the good people try to create some prosperity through gold mining, they are invaded by a gang of desperadoes whose superior equipment is overcome by simple six-shooters and the greater determination of the huble locals, pulled together heroically by Rogers. Plenty of action on view as the invaders are outsmarted in dramatic style, and the musical interludes provide a background choir, saddled up for both fighting and singing.
