As the third installment in his highly acclaimed trio of best selling recordings, "Journey" very much follows in the musical footsteps of it's two predecessors, "Heart Music and Art" and "Path of Romance". With themes from classical masterpieces, celebrated standards, and the inclusion of more current hits, this disc once again exemplifies the attractive versatility that characterizes Patrick's work. In particular, Patrick's exquisite version of "Pachelbel's Canon" seems to represent the style and philosophy that infuses this CD. Like most of his music, the "Canon" is soothing and relaxing, but Patrick also brings a fresh perspective to this piece by performing it on the classical guitar, in contrast to the more commonly heard piano or orchestral arrangements. Utilizing cutting edge digital recording technology, four different guitar parts have been multi-layered to faithfully reproduce the original score of "Pachelbel's Canon" and supplemental instrumental harmonies have been added that result in an accurate yet very unique rendering of this timeless classical theme. The calming yet beautifully uplifting quality of this composition has made it one of the most requested songs in Patrick's repertoire.
