DigiChoral Blue Portraits is the third CD in my electrochoral series. The style of these electrochoral works came from my early austere 1970s minimal music combined with consonant new age harmonies and gestures from our Western Choral Classical Music Tradition. The works on these CDs were selected to appeal to both classical and new age/ambient music listeners. DigiChoral Blue Portraits has some of my older and newer electrochoral works on it. The various tracks show some development of my minimal choral style. Three works from 1992 and 93 - tracks 1, 5, and 8 - are named after early musical theorists: Johannes Tinctoris, Franco of Cologne and Guido of Arezzo. Tracks 2, 4, and 6 are three faster fugal works. Obrecht Blue Victorian Blue and Dufay Blue use minimal subjects and are named after early polyphonic classical composers. The two newer chorales - tracks 3 and 7 - Monteverdian Blue and Byrd Blue employ minimal melodic ideas and are also named after early composers. Leonin Blue is an electro-orchestration of an early instrumental work of mine and is an example of my early minimal polyphonic style. lk 990901.
