'Carnival' is Los Hombres Caliente's sixth release on Basin Street Records and sees the band take their exploration and experiences of African rhythms to a new level of creativity. Led by percussionist Bill Summers and trumpeter Irvin Mayfield this recording is a celebration of "Carnival" in its broadest musical sense - from the Mardi Gras Indians' calls, through Latin American and Caribbean drum patterns, to the legends of New Orleans funk such as James Booker. Includes special guest appearances by George Porter (the Meters), Kermit Ruffins, The Rebirth Brass Band and Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews. In short, 'Carnival' is a superb combination of Blues, Funk, Latin and African musical elements. And, of course, is imbued with the ever-present unifying spirit of New Orleans.
