A celebration of acoustic guitar music dedicated to Nick Webb, co-founder of Acoustic Alchemy, from the contemporary latin/jazz band Kymaera, created by Shane Hill and Simon James who was the other founding member of Acoustic Alchemy. The album features guest appearances by Greg Carmichael present day front man of Acoustic Alchemy (by courtesy of Higher Octave records) and Maria Ewing, American born opera diva and jazz singer.
This is an unique tribute to an unique writer. Tracks include new versions of Dream Of Fair Women, Little Bercheres and Last Summer’s Song from Early Alchemy and Hearts In Chains from Blue Chip, and Into The Rainbow itself, first released on Kymaera’s album Rio Moods and Nick’s final collaboration with Simon just before his untimely death in 1998. There is also a beautiful duet, Desert Rose, from the hands of Greg Carmichael and Simon James written specially by them for this recording.
The band also features some of the finest British jazz musicians - Dave O’Higgins on saxes, Dick Pearce on flugelhorn and trumpet, Dave Markee on bass and Michele Drees on drums and percussion. The album was mixed and co-produced by Klaus Genuit who was responsible for many of Acoustic Alchemy’s finest recordings.
